Frequently Asked Questions...

Baldness affects both men and women although it is more obvious in men. By the age of 25, 25% of men have lost a certain amount of their hair and by the age of 50 this proportion rises to around 50%. Many men however, accept with reluctance that it will not happen in the same way as maybe it did with their older brothers or fathers - although the hair loss could be genetically from the mothers side.

Baldness in men usually starts at the front hairline or at the crown area. In these areas the hair follicles of sufferers are genetically pre-programmed to revert from producing terminal hairs to producing vellus-like hairs. The growth phase of the hair (anagen) becomes shorter and shorter with a greater proportion of hairs in the shedding (telogen) phase.

This change happens under the influence of male hormones (androgens) and can begin as early as the time of puberty or soon after, when androgen production in the body reaches a peak.

It has been proven over the years that the best time to enquire about hair replacement is when you notice your hair at the crown or hairline is disappearing. This is where  NU-STYLE NORTH WEST is unique in being able to specially design a hair system, which initially replaces the start of your hair loss and as the hair loss continues the hair system will increase, so nobody will ever see your gradual hair loss.

We hope we have managed to answer some of the more frequently asked questions but if there's anything that hasn't been covered in the examples below please feel free to call us on 0161 796 0488, we'd be more than happy to help.

ANSWERS:

01) The T.H.S. System of hair replacement is probably best described as applying a removable 'second skin' using colour matched hair which is either natural or synthetic.

02) The 'second skin' technique (which is what we at NU-STYLE NORTH WEST specialise in) does not hurt at all - surgical hair transplantation on the other hand can be sore for a while after each session.

03) The 'second skin' process involves a removable, extremely thin microporous base material which has colour-matched hair applied to it to complement the area being covered. This is placed on to the area with adhesive and styled to match. As your hair continues to thin, a larger base is made to fit.

04) You can do all the things you do now, including showering afterwards. The T.H.S. System will be extremely secure. You can pull it, shampoo it, blow-wave it - in fact it becomes a part of you.

05) Only as it does now. The micro-porous base allows your skin to "breathe" thus maintaining your style and comfort.

06) The T.H.S. system involves each hair being individually inserted by hand and the specially designed hairlines use a base material that is manufactured so that your scalp colour shows through thus helping disguise the application. This system looks incredibly natural even at close examination.

07) Yes 100%. The hair is professionally colour matched to the tones of your own hair.

08) The choice is yours, we use both human hair or one of the incredibly natural looking and styleable synthetic fibre alternatives that we have readily available.

09) We can't think of a better time to change your image.

10) As with your own hair you stand less chance of sunburn as the hair formes a partial barrier
to the sun. With a hairpiece the added barrier is formed by the base material and extra hair.
However, no known trials exist to quantify the possible reduction of the sun's effects in this
way so, until then, you should still take the utmost care!

11) Nu-Style North West have always maintained high quality at competitive prices. We feel sure you would be surprised at the cost and be delighted with your new hair.
